Where the Ford F-150 truly excelled was the IIHS small front overlap test--which simulates a crash in which the driver-side front of the vehicle strikes a tree, pole, or other car. It was the only full-size half-ton pickup truck to receive a "Good" rating (the highest) for the test, while all other competitors received "Acceptable", "Marginal", or "Poor".
